Written for the Meetinghouse Jazz Orchestra’s 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. Day concert, Hope Eternal pairs a clear, uplifting melody with march-like rhythms and a subtle patriotic character. Tenor saxophone, trombone, and trumpet solos ride an energetic rhythm-section groove before the full band reaches a triumphant climax and settles into a more somber close.
